M.S.J.E. embarrassed on employment data once again!
D.N.I.S. News Network, India: Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (M.S.J.E.) had to suffer embarrassment in the Rajya Sabha when in reply to a question asked by Brinda Karat, they had to admit that1. The last so called ‘Special Recruitment Drive’ was launched by the Government in only 2009 to “fill up the backlog reserved vacancies of persons with disabilities in Central Government Department including autonomous bodies, attached offices, P.S.U.s, etc.”
2. In that endeavour also, the Government failed miserably because by its own admission against the 7628 backlog reserved posts in 65 Ministries/Departments as on November 15, 2009, only 1017 have been filled up. Section 33 of the Disability Act, 1995 provides for 3% reservation in vacancies in every establishment in government sector including 1% each for persons with blindness or low vision; hearing impairment and locomotor disability or cerebral palsy.
