The capital all set to get its first fully-accessible bus route
D.N.I.S. News Network -
Specially designed bus shelters would include ramps and hand railings on both sides and braille plates with the bus numbers and tactile tiles for visually impaired people. Provisions have also been made in the shelters as in low-floor buses, to accommodate two wheelchairs. There would also be reserved seating arrangements for the aged and people with reduced mobility.
One prototype of the specially designed bus shelter has already been inaugurated based on which all other shelters on this route would be built. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has sanctioned Rs1.01 crore for the construction of these bus shelters and N.D.M.C. and D.T.C. have started work.
