W.H.O. to hold consultation on forced sterilization
D.N.I.S. News Network, India: World Health Organisation (W.H.O.) is in the process of drafting a statement on involuntary sterilization with particular reference to women with disabilities, women affected by H.I.V., from minority communities and trans and intersex people. A consultation on the issue is being organised in Geneva in October to bring together experts and representatives. A statement will be launched at the end of this year or early 2013.Meenakshi B., disability rights activist from Tamil Nadu, currently working with National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (N.C.P.E.D.P.) in Delhi, will represent Disabled People’s International (D.P.I.) at the consultation.
