No disappointment for disabled students in DU

DNIS News Network -- Delhi University has warmly welcomed every disabled category candidate in this year’s admission process.

Each and every one of the 311 disabled students who applied to DU this year, was handed an admission slip for their place in the university. Three candidates who needed a change of college were also not disappointed when they approached the dean of Students’ Welfare office. “So far, no college has denied anyone permission. We give special consideration to disabled candidates. We haven’t received complaints from any candidate either”, said the Dean of Students’ Welfare, Hema Raghavan.

One of the highest scorers among the physically challenged was Garima Goel, who found herself warmly welcomed in Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College. A student of BA with Maths and Compute Application, she never let her hearing and speech impairment come in the way of having a good time with her seniors and peers on the first day of college.

However, the only disappointment was the DTC bus conductor on route number 871, who refused to accept the concessional pass issued to the disabled by the Delhi Transport Corporation, and forced Garima to buy a ticket.
