Hawking plans a trip to space
D.N.I.S. News Network -Genius
astrophysicist Stephen Hawking’s spirit of adventure
continues as he announces his plan to undertake a zero-gravity flight aboard an
airplane this year as a precursor to a journey into space.
“This year I’m
planning a zero-gravity flight and to go into space in 2009,” he was quoted in
the Daily Telegraph. The 65-year-old Hawking has said he hopes to travel on
British businessman Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic service, which is
scheduled to launch in 2009. The service will charge space tourists about $2,00,000 for a two-hour suborbital trip about 140 kilometres
above the earth.
It has been
reported that Richard Branson is keen to help the scientist realise his dream
of a space flight.
