Civic bodies must be disabled friendly, Yeddyurappa
D.N.I.S. News Network, India: Access got a much needed fillip after Karnataka Chief Minister, B. S. Yeddyurappa directed all civic bodies in Karnataka including Bangalore to start making public places disabled friendly. Civic bodies were instructed to construct ramps and barrier free structures and utilize the 3 percent of funds set aside for the benefit of disabled people.
To monitor that things are happening, P. M. Narendra Swami, Minister for Women and Child Welfare will ensure that the implementation drive is in tune with Persons with Disability Act, 1995 and that progress is reviewed every three months.
