Rajasthan sets example; Introduces low-floor buses in Kota
D.N.I.S. News Network – A fleet of 12 low-floor buses has been
introduced in
The Chief Minister said that the Kota Municipal Corporation and Urban Improvement Trust would jointly manage B.R.T.S. for the time being. The company would ensure its accountability to people by having the Kota Mayor as its Chairperson, while the Collector would function as the Executive Director.
A Consultant has been appointed
to study the scope for launching B.R.T.S. in various other cities of Rajasthan,
the Chief Minister stated. The B.R.T.S. will entail an investment of Rs. 470 crores in Jaipur alone, while
Low floor buses are disabled-friendly. The new system will make it possible for orthopaedically disabled people, especially wheelchair users to travel with ease and dignity.
