N.A.C. comes out with Draft Recommendations on the proposed new disability law
D.N.I.S. News Network, India: The Working Group on Social Protection of the National Advisory Council (N.A.C.), headed by Harsh Mander, has come out with its Draft Recommendations on the proposed new disability law.
N.A.C. had held consultations with various stakeholders of the disability sector to address the contentious issues around the proposed new law, namely the question of one comprehensive law as opposed to multiple laws; legal capacity; inclusive education vis-a-vis special education to name a few.
However, the draft recommendations does not seem to spell out N.A.C.’s directions to address these key issues, leaving the whole issue as it was a year back when the Dr. Sudha Kaul committee finally submitted its recommendations to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment after 14 months of its constitution.
