DNIS News Network -- A brainchild of film-makers Vinay and Meenakshi Rai, Spandan is a movement initiated to encourage talent among special childrenThe philosophy behind through a special way of conducting animation workshops for them.
Spandan was initiated last year when the two decided to involve special children in animation by conducting workshops with them. As many as 10 workshops with different sets of students - spastic, orthopedic, mentally challenged and physically challenged - led to the creation of short films ranging from one to three minutes, all on the theme of environment.
These films were screened at the recent environment and wildlife film festival, Vatavaran where they received a special .mention of the jury award. "Their ability to adopt and perform with this medium is amazing," says Ms Rai. "They come out of a shell during the animation process...".
