Ministry of Information Technology makes it’s website accessible

D.N.I.S. News Network, India: The government seems to be gradually waking up to the concept of web accessibility. Ever since the website of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (M.S.J.E.) has been made accessible, others seem to have got the cue. This time, the Ministry of Information Technology (M.I.T.) has got its act together and finally made its website accessible.

Blind and visually impaired persons can now log on to www.mit.gov.in and avail any information on the Ministry’s new accessible website. It was launched by Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, A. Raja.

Speaking on the occasion, Raja recognized the immense potential of information technology and emphasized the need to bridge the information gap by reaching out to those who have little or no access to electronic service delivery channels. Echoing this sentiment, Union Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Sachin Pilot, who was also present at the launch, stressed on making internet and computers easily available to the remotest areas so that an inclusive digitalization is achieved.
