Still no special educators in Delhi municipal schools

D.N.I.S. News Network, India: Three years after a Delhi High Court order and two years after the Right to Education Act, schools under the now trifurcated Municipal Corporation of Delhi are yet to hire special educators for students with disabilities in its 1,790 schools.

A blame game seems to have erupted as officials hasten to pass the buck. Most cite the trifurcation of M.C.D., shortage of funds and procedural delays as reasons. If the National Capital Region is so far behind in making its schools accessible to students with disabilities, the picture will be even more grim in the rest of the country.
