I.S.I.C. to start Masters in Prosthetics & Orthotics

- The Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (I.S.I.C.), Delhi, has taken a major initiative by deciding
to introduce Masters in Prosthetics & Orthotics
(M.P.O.) course. The aim of this programme is to impart knowledge and skills
on technical advancements and promote research in the field of rehabilitation
that deals with use of advanced aids.
This is a full-fledged
two-year course that will be launched in September 2006 by I.S.I.C. in affiliation
with Indraprastha University.
The course design is such that it would produce professionals who specialise
in developing advanced aids and assistive devices. Prosthetics and Orthotics is a specialised healthcare profession, which combines
a unique blend of clinical and technical skills.
There are a total
of 16 seats and the teaching faculty will comprise highly qualified and experienced
national and international professionals in the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics.
As part of the
new course, a student exchange programme is also being planned with San Raffaele Hospital, Milan,
Italy, to
expose students to technological developments outside the country.
