Dyslexic student denied 3% reservation facility in Engineering Entrance Exam
D.N.I.S. News Network, India: It has been over 15 years since the Disability Act of 1995 came into force. The Act provides several concessions and facilities to disabled people for education. However, recently, a Class XII student having dyslexia has been denied the facility of 3% reservation in an Engineering Entrance Exam.
The facility was denied to the student on the plea that dyslexia has not been specified as a category under the Disability Act of 1995. Punjab and Haryana High Court also could not provide any relief in this case and highlighted the fact that an amendment in the Disability Act is needed to help such persons.
