Braille E.V.M.s for visually impaired people

D.N.I.S. News Network – Visually impaired people in India may soon be able to exercise their franchise through Braille Electronic Voting Machines (E.V.M.s).

The Election Commission has accepted a proposal to this effect and the next step would be to seek help from National Institute of Visually Handicapped for making a Braille E.V.M.

Uttarkhand Chief Electoral Officer N. Ravishankar said, “We received the proposal and it was immediately put before the Election Commission, which gave its acceptance in principle.”
